Santa’s Pants

“Can I hope no one steals my pants?  I didn’t even get to sit down before someone stole my pants!” –  Irene really wanted these Santa pants to go with the other pair she received with a Secret Sister gift a few Christmas’ ago.

Pumpkin Carving 2016

Your drill bit is too big for my hole!
Does this look like a lady part?  What lady part?
He leaves his drill bits in his pants?  The bits go in the dryer?

These are just some of the quotes of the night!

Paint Nite XAL Style

The ladies of XAL decided to try something different tonight.  We had a paint night, courteous of Pop Up Painters with Tracy as our instructor.  What a blast everyone had creating their own interpretations of “Winter berries”.

Here are a few of the comments regarding everyone’s berries:  “Who has the biggest berries?” ; “Need more berries!” ; and “Someone has berry envy.”

Bust a Move

For the past 5 years the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation has put on a fundraiser for breast health at the Ottawa Athletic Club called Bust a Move and has raised 1.5 million dollars towards breast health in the Ottawa area.

The ladies of Xi Alpha Lambda were happy to help out at a great event.

XAL Christmas Party 2015

IMG_0794Crokinole Who?

Crokinooooo!

I don’t know about this one.

These were just some of things being mentioned as we each took turns playing crokinole (some of us for the first time).  But in the end everyone had a good laugh and enjoyed themselves.

Then is was off to doing our annual ornament exchange and for once there wasn’t a lot of stealing going on  I think only the plump angel was stolen and that was only once!

Afterwards we exchanged our secret sister gifts and Paula’s response to her gift wrapped present was “It’s so squishy!” and once opened said “Oh I’m suppose to set something on fire!” It was an indoor/outdoor mini fireplace.  Very cool!

The 80’s

So, you would think that since we grew up in the 80’s, we would know the answers to Trivial Pursuit Totally 80’s.  Wrong!  It wasn’t as easy as we thought.  Who knew that Tip O’Neill hung up his gavel in 1987 after ten years as the Speaker of the House of Congress?  Or that the Rolling Stones had two songs titled “She’s so cold” and “She was hot”?  But we did know that Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello returned to the big screen in “Back to the Beach” and that Gerald McRaney played in “Major Dad” and is married to Delta Burke but couldn’t remember the title of show he did with Jameson Parker (Simon & Simon).  In the end, each team (2 teams) had two pies each and had to do a tie-breaker question.  The question was “What Alaska town finally got it first McDonald’s in 1986, on Santa Claus Lane?”  And the name of the town is …..  North Pole!

Beginning Day – Merrickville

Well the year started off with a bang!  Four sisters spent a cold, rainy day in Merrickville for our Beginning Day.  A bite to eat with some catching up and then off to do some shopping!  We found some wonderful shops in Merrickville and all of us loved the Merry Christmas Shoppe.  We want to go back again in December and see what the town looks like all decorated for Christmas and to do some Christmas shopping.  Even though the weather wasn’t great, we all had a great time!
